Modern interiors favor open plans, strong horizontal lines, and a confident mix of glass, stone, and wood. Ornament is stripped away in favor of proportion and material contrast — a walnut wall against white plaster, a stone island under a linear pendant. It is the default language of contemporary architecture for a reason: it photographs and renders beautifully.

Applied to the hotel lobby, this style works best when the layout fundamentals are right first. A lobby has to do four jobs at once: arrive, wait, work and meet. Solve them as separate zones rather than one big lounge, and give each a different ceiling height or floor material so the room reads as a sequence instead of a hall. The check-in desk should be visible from the door without being the first thing that dominates the view.
