Art Deco is geometry treated as ornament: fluted panels, stepped profiles, sunburst inlay and strong symmetry, executed in materials that catch light. It is a maximalist language, but a disciplined one — the repetition of a single motif across millwork, lighting and rugs is what makes a room read Deco rather than merely busy.

Applied to the bathroom, this style works best when the layout fundamentals are right first. Bathrooms reward continuity: run one tile or stone across floor and wet walls to make a small space read larger, and put niches in the shower instead of shelves. Lighting at the mirror should come from the sides or a backlit panel — a single overhead light casts unflattering shadows.
