Coastal interiors borrow their palette from the shoreline rather than from nautical decor — sand, driftwood, sea glass and bleached linen instead of anchors and rope. The defining move is light: pale surfaces bounce daylight around, and window treatments stay sheer so the view does the decorating. Materials look weathered on purpose, as if salt air has already softened them.

Applied to the bathroom, this style works best when the layout fundamentals are right first. Bathrooms reward continuity: run one tile or stone across floor and wet walls to make a small space read larger, and put niches in the shower instead of shelves. Lighting at the mirror should come from the sides or a backlit panel — a single overhead light casts unflattering shadows.
