Material Prompts for AI Renders — Names That Actually Work
Most disappointing AI renders share one cause: generic material words. "Wood floor" can mean anything, so the model averages; "wide-plank white oak with a matte oil finish" cannot be misread. Precision in material naming is the single highest-leverage prompt skill in architectural work.
This is a working vocabulary, grouped by family. Combine two or three per render — one floor, one wall, one accent — and stop there. Long material lists compete with each other and the output gets muddy.
