What is Sketch to render?
Converting a hand drawing, CAD line export or untextured 3D viewport into a photorealistic render. The line work anchors the geometry and perspective; the AI adds materials, lighting and realism on top of the original drawing.

Sketch to render is the conversion of a line drawing into a photorealistic image. The input can be a pencil sketch on paper, a marker concept drawing, a CAD or BIM line export, or an untextured screenshot from a 3D program. The lines define where walls, openings and rooflines sit; the software supplies materials, lighting, vegetation and atmosphere.
Why it matters
Early design sketches are fast but hard for non-designers to read. Clients, planning committees and investors respond far better to a convincing image than to linework. Sketch to render closes that gap without waiting for a fully modelled scene, so a concept can be tested with a client while it can still change cheaply.
Example
A designer photographs a perspective sketch of a courtyard house, uploads it, and asks for "rendered concrete and oak, late afternoon light, mature trees". The result keeps the drawn proportions and camera angle but looks like a photograph of the finished building.
Common mistake
Uploading a sketch with inconsistent perspective and expecting clean geometry. The output follows the lines you give it, including mistakes. Another mistake is over-describing: asking for many conflicting materials in one pass usually produces a muddy result. Pick one palette and iterate.
Practical tips
Use dark, continuous lines on a light background and photograph the page straight on, without shadows from your hand. Keep the sketch to one viewpoint and avoid text or notes over the drawing. If the first result drifts, simplify the prompt, name only the key materials, and try again. Moderate scan resolution is usually enough, since the model reads shapes rather than fine pencil texture.
In Archome AI
The Sketch to Render tool in Archome AI keeps the drawn geometry and adds the realism on top. A render takes about 30 seconds, and free accounts get 3 free renders with no card.
