Can I render directly from SketchUp or Revit?

For SketchUp and 3ds Max there is a plugin that takes the current viewport, sends it through the Archome API and brings the render back, so you never leave the modelling window. It authenticates with an API key from your account and spends credits from the same balance as the web app.

For everything else the workflow is a screen capture, and it works better than it sounds. Revit users grab a shaded or hidden-line view. Rhino users capture the viewport or a Grasshopper study. ArchiCAD users export a BIM view. AutoCAD users export a plan, elevation or 3D view as an image. The model does not care which software produced the picture; it reads geometry from the image.

A practical tip that improves results across all of them: capture a clean view. Turn off grids, section markers, dimension strings and title blocks if they are not part of what you want rendered, because the model reads them as line work and will render them into the image as marks on the surface.

A Rhino plugin is in preparation. Until it ships, the viewport capture route gives the same result with one extra step.
