Floor plan editor: upload or draw a plan, place furniture, render
Two things happen to a plan you upload. First, AI reads it: walls, doors, windows and furniture become editable objects on the canvas — move a wall, swap a sofa, fix a door — and you can switch to a 3D view of the same plan at any time. Second, you render it: an apartment plan comes back as furnished, lit rooms; a building layout as a massing view; a site plan as a photorealistic aerial. The read plan is a draft to check against your drawing (scale comes from the building width you enter); the render is a presentation image, not a measured drawing.
Masterplans are the hardest thing to sell, because clients and committees struggle to read them. An aerial render of the same plan closes that gap in a single image.
How much does plan and masterplan rendering cost?
| Option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Free account | 100 credits once, no card: one plan read (60) plus one render (30) |
| Lite, $29/month | 1,000 credits: about 11 plans read and rendered, or 33 plan renders |
| One-time packs | $15 for 500, $39 for 1,500, $99 for 5,000 credits, valid 12 months |

How it works
- 1
Upload the plan
A PDF screenshot, JPG or a photo of a printed plan — an apartment, a building layout or a site plan.
- 2
Let AI read it
Enter the building width, click "Read & create plan" (60 credits). Walls, doors, windows and furniture appear as editable objects in about 30 seconds.
- 3
Fix and view in 3D
Drag anything that needs correcting, then switch to the 3D view — walls, openings and furniture, no modelling.
- 4
Render it
Describe the style and get a photorealistic view of your plan (30 credits) — eye-level, isometric dollhouse or an aerial for a site plan.
Who it's for
- —Planning submissions and committee presentations
- —Developer pitches for large sites
- —Competition boards that need an aerial hero image
- —Urban design studies with several layout options
Why use Archome AI for plan and masterplan rendering?
It starts from the plan you already have. A PDF screenshot, JPG, CAD export or photo of a printed drawing is read into editable walls, doors, windows and furniture, shown in 3D, and rendered as a furnished room, a dollhouse view or a site aerial — all online, with no AutoCAD, SketchUp or render farm.
The numbers: reading a plan is 60 credits and a plan render is 30. The free start is 100 credits once with no card, which covers one plan read plus one render. Lite ($29/month, 1,000 credits) covers about 11 plans read and rendered, or 33 plan renders; credit packs from $15 for 500 credits stay valid for 12 months, so a subscription is not required. Full breakdown on the pricing page.
Any paid plan or credit pack adds the commercial licence for client presentations, planning packs, developer brochures and listings. If your starting point is a single apartment plan for a client or a listing, the floor plan to 3D page walks through that case step by step.
Masterplan rendering online: site plans to aerial views
Upload a site plan, a CAD layout or a massing capture and state the scale in the prompt — "aerial view of a 20-hectare mixed-use district, late afternoon, mature trees along the streets". The road structure and block layout are read from your plan, and the render adds buildings, planting, paving, water and light around them.
It runs entirely in the browser, so there is no site model to assemble in Lumion or Twinmotion and no GPU to buy. Typical uses are planning committee boards, developer pitches, competition entries and option studies where three layouts need to be compared side by side.
Push the approved aerial further with landscape AI for planting detail, 4K upscaling for a printed A1 board and video for a fly-over clip. For a single building rather than a site, exterior AI is the more direct tool.
How much does plan rendering cost? A worked example
A typical client job — read one apartment plan (60 credits), fix a misread wall, then render an aerial dollhouse view and two eye-level rooms (3 × 30 credits) — is 150 credits. On Lite that is about $4.35; on the free start it is more than the 100 credits available, which is why the free credits are best spent on one read and one render of a plan you know well.
Against outsourcing, a studio floor plan render or aerial is a paid deliverable with a turnaround of days; the rendering cost calculator lists published price tables with sources.
AI masterplan render vs traditional visualisation vs a flat plan
| Approach | Input needed | Time to output | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI masterplan render (this tool) | A site plan, CAD export, massing diagram or aerial viewport capture | Seconds, in the browser | Turning a plan you already have into a photorealistic aerial for a board or submission, without building out context and materials by hand |
| Traditional visualisation (Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray, Twinmotion) | A full 3D site model with terrain, blocks and surrounding context | Hours to days per board, often a render farm | Fully art-directed masterplan renders with exact control over camera, light and material grade |
| Generic AI image generators (Midjourney, DALL-E) | A text description only, no plan required | Seconds | Aerial "mood" imagery for inspiration — the layout is invented rather than read from your plan, so it cannot stand in for the actual site |
| Flat 2D plan or GIS export (no rendering) | The plan itself, no extra step | Immediate | Technical review and measured drawings — clear for planners, but hard for a lay board or committee to read at a glance |
Who should pick which
- Want a new layout designed, not an existing plan rendered: This tool renders the plan you already have — road structure, block layout and proportions are read from your upload, not invented. If there is no plan yet and the layout itself still needs designing, that is a different kind of tool.
- Only restyling one building, not a wider site or aerial view: For a single building rather than a full site, exterior is the more direct tool — same geometry-preserving approach, framed on one facade instead of a masterplan.
- Architects and planners preparing committee or board submissions: Masterplan sits in the same account as 14 other tools, so the same aerial can move on to a walkthrough video or a 4K upscale for a printed board without switching apps or re-uploading.
- SketchUp or 3ds Max users working from a 3D site model: The free SketchUp or 3ds Max plugin sends the active viewport straight through, so an aerial viewport capture never needs a manual screenshot step.
Frequently asked
Can it read a PDF or JPG floor plan into an editable plan?+
Yes. Export or screenshot the PDF as an image, upload it, enter the outer building width in centimetres and click "Read & create plan". AI traces the walls, doors, windows and furniture into objects you can move and edit in the browser, then view in 3D. It costs 60 credits and takes about 30 seconds; treat it as a draft and check the scale before you rely on it.
Is the plan editable, or just an image?+
The read plan is editable: every wall, door, window and piece of furniture is an object you can drag, rotate, duplicate or delete, and the 3D view updates from the same data. You can export it as PNG, PDF or an Archome project file. It is not a DWG or RVT file.
Does it keep my site layout?+
The reading step traces the layout you uploaded — walls and rooms stay where you drew them, and anything the AI misread you can drag into place. The render step is different: it is a presentation image whose proportions follow the plan but are not measured. Compare it with the source drawing before you present it.
What input works best?+
A clean plan with clear line work, or an aerial viewport capture from your 3D model. Cluttered CAD drawings with heavy annotation give weaker results — export a clean version first.
What is Imagine AI rendering?+
Imagine is Archome’s text-to-render engine for architecture: describe a building or interior in plain words and get a photorealistic architectural render in about 30 seconds - no photo, no model, no CAD file needed.
How is Imagine different from Midjourney for architecture?+
Imagine is tuned for architectural output and sits inside a full workflow: the render can go straight to upscaling, video, 3D export or material identification. General image tools stop at the picture.
Can it render large sites?+
Yes — from a single block to a full district. Say the scale in your prompt so the level of detail matches ("aerial view of a 20-hectare mixed-use district").
How much does plan and masterplan rendering cost?+
Reading a plan into an editable layout is 60 credits and each plan render is 30. The free start (100 credits once, no card) covers one read plus one render. Lite is $29/month for 1,000 credits — about 11 plans read and rendered — and one-time packs start at $15 for 500 credits, valid 12 months, with no subscription required.
Can I use the renders for clients, planning packs or listings?+
Yes. Any paid plan or credit pack includes a commercial licence, and nothing is watermarked. The render is a presentation image rather than a measured drawing, so keep your dimensioned plans for anything that gets priced or built.
