magicplan Alternative — Site Scanning vs. AI Rendering
magicplan measures the building while you stand in it; Archome AI renders a plan or photo you already have — in most workflows the scan comes first and the render second, so the two sit side by side rather than replacing each other.

What magicplan is
magicplan is a mobile measuring and sketching app for documenting buildings on site. On an iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Pro or newer running iOS 17, its LiDAR Auto-Scan uses Apple's RoomPlan API to detect walls, windows and doorways automatically; on other Apple and Android devices you sketch rooms with the camera or manual tools, and it pairs with 20+ Bluetooth laser meters for measured dimensions.
Its centre of gravity is restoration, inspection and claims work: the pitch is to capture the loss, scope the job and start the estimate before leaving the site, though agents, architects and interior designers are also listed users. Pricing is per project — 2 free projects with no card, plans from 10 new projects a month with unlimited users, a per-project charge beyond that; check its pricing page for current rates.
Where Archome AI differs
Archome AI does not scan, measure or sketch anything. It takes an image you already have — a photo, a hand sketch, or a floor plan as JPG, PNG or a PDF screenshot — and returns a photorealistic render in about 30 seconds. There is no camera workflow, no laser pairing and no measured output; any dimensions you read off a render are visual, not authoritative.
Plan & Render, Archome's floor plan tool, reads an uploaded plan image into editable walls, doors, windows and furniture, lets you draw walls, place furniture and pick camera views, then renders the scene. A sketch exported from magicplan as PNG or JPG is a valid input, which is the natural handoff: magicplan records what the building is, Archome shows what it could look like.
They also serve different buyers. magicplan sells measured documentation and estimates to field teams, priced per project; Archome sells listing and presentation images to agents, designers and owners, priced per render from a credit pool. Archome exports no DXF, DWG or measured plan, and magicplan does not publish a photorealistic rendering feature, so the honest framing is complementary rather than substitute.

Choose magicplan if
- —You need to leave a site with measured walls, doors and windows, room areas and a sketch the office can trust — nothing Archome produces replaces a measurement.
- —Your deliverable is a scope or estimate for restoration, remodeling or claims, including an ESX file for Xactimate or a DXF for the rebuild crew.
- —Unlimited users on a per-project plan matches how a field team works better than a per-render credit meter.
Choose Archome AI if
- —You already have the plan or photo — from magicplan, a listing, a hand sketch — and need a photorealistic or staged image for a listing, a client meeting or a planning presentation.
- —The job is visual: stage an empty room from $0.29 a photo on the $29 plan, restyle an interior, or turn a plan image into a furnished 3D view with camera angles you choose.
- —You want to try before paying: 100 credits once with no card covers three Fast renders on your own plan — enough to see whether the output is usable.

Frequently asked
Is Archome AI a magicplan alternative?+
Only if alternative means a different tool for a different step. magicplan measures and sketches a property on site and produces measured exports and estimates; Archome renders an image you already have. If you need measurements, pick magicplan. If you need a photorealistic view of a plan or a staged photo, pick Archome. Many workflows use both, in that order.
Can I render a magicplan sketch in Archome AI?+
Yes. Export the sketch from magicplan as PNG or JPG (its help pages list both formats), upload it to Plan & Render, and Archome reads the plan into editable walls, doors, windows and furniture before rendering. Dimensions are not carried over as authoritative values, so keep the magicplan file as your measured record.
How does pricing differ?+
magicplan is priced per project: 2 free projects with no card, then plans starting at 10 new projects a month with a per-project charge for each extra project — check its pricing page for current monthly rates. Archome is priced per render from a credit pool: 100 credits once at signup, packs at $15 (500), $39 (1,500) and $99 (5,000), and subscriptions from $29 a month.
Is Archome AI free to try against magicplan?+
There is a trial, not a free tier. A new account gets 100 credits once, with no card. Every free render costs 30 credits and runs on the Fast engine (Ultra is for paid plans), so the trial is three renders in total and it does not renew — enough to judge output on your own project rather than on marketing samples. Anything you publish — an MLS listing, a portal, a client presentation, marketing — needs a paid plan, which carries the commercial licence.
Can I use the renders commercially?+
On any paid plan, yes — files carry a full commercial licence. Free-plan renders are intended for evaluation and personal use.
What should I actually compare?+
Run the same input through both tools and zoom in on the parts that matter: did the window count change, is the wall line still straight, are the proportions still yours? Marketing pages do not settle this — a side-by-side on your own photo does.
